Animated Space in the Cosmopolitan’s West Lobby
One of the most exciting evolutions within the animation art form in recent years has been its development beyond the traditional screen. Environmental animation and site-specific installations have the potential to occur throughout our natural surroundings and be woven directly into our day-to-day lives. In other words, animation no longer need be restricted to a passive viewing experience or limited to a rectangular screen.
The most restrictive factors at this moment in time are the significant financial outlay and tech-savvy required to set up these kind of spaces, especially permanent ones. Additionally, each space must be designed individually to respond to a specific location. One such new space is the lobby inside of the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas. The Rockwell Group installed over 400 displays in the lobby, and the effect looks impressive. Since each set of 3 monitors is an “addressable 1920 x 1080 output” and there are 64 addressable faces, there is a lot of flexibility for artists to create distinctive works, and I hope the hotel commissions animators and filmmakers to experiment with its great setup.

A kinetic space, centered around 8 giant central columns wrapped with mirrors and LCD screens. Rockwell Group’s LAB installed 384 displays on the columns and 26 behind the registration desk to create a platform for a variety of customized immersive digital experiences in the space.

Ryan dening, an artist extraordinare,
WOW!!!!! I just had a moment to hang out on the computer and browse a bit and I came across a website and a blog by RYAN DENING!!!! Ryan was my boss on the Star Trek online game when Perpetual was putting the game together. We met in 06 and I started working remotely with a visit up to the bay about once a month to meet and go over all the new lists of things to be rendered. Ryan was hired to be the design boss for the game and what an awesome talent he is. When I first walked in the office, which was very tiny and very dark you could see his art work being modeled or manipulated on every screen as you walked through the halls of computers. Ryan has an incredible sense of design and his passion for Star Trek was without limits. I was a huge fan from the first day and I loved his style of color & tight perspective on how he would choose to set up a rendering. AWESOME talent and one incredibly nice guy!!! I am so glad to have come across his pages today and so glad to be sharing some of his work with you.. I attached both his links in my blog role so be sure to go check out some incredible stuff!!! Power Flower for clean energy generation.
Whenever we think about renewable wind energy harnessing, those noisy, ubiquitous three-bladed behemoths come to our minds. But nothing in the dictum of green technology says that it can’t be sensibly graceful and utterly practical in its conception. And that is exactly what the Amsterdam-based firm NL Architects has uniquely come up with – an artistically conceived compact wind turbine that is highly reliant on the pragmatic side of affairs. Aptly named as the “Power Flower,” this petite contraption features multiple “petals” with propellers. The convenient compactness of this turbine is evident, as an array of these turbines can harmoniously be arranged on artificial “tree” posts. According to the designers, a conventional turbine requires five times as much radius as these diminutive yet sturdy generators do. 
Not only that, their small size is conducive in the context of cramped urban domestic zones. Moreover, they incorporate a vertical axis design which can utilize the wind from all directions, and even transfer the energy to other sustainable technologies such as solar panels. In the end, quite smartly the designers have contrived of two types of models – a smaller and a larger one, catering to both residential and commercial usages.
